How to Position your Aquarium
Your aquariums position is very important to the welfare of your fish and to give you more enjoyment from watching them frolic. You should decide on the position of your aquarium before you set it up as if you don't like the position when it is set up you have a problem on your hands!
First of all your aquarium should beclose to an electric socket as if you want to keep your fish happy with a filter, heater and maybe even a light you need electricity. Make sure water can't get into the sockets as it could be quite a shocking experience that could kill you!
Your aquarium needs something to sit on. Make sure that what ever the aquarium is going to be stood can take the weight. 1 litre of water weighs a kilogram. So even quite a small aquarium of 24" x 12" x 15" weighs around 60kg. This is about the weight of a young adult. Sitting on the stand or surface is a good way to check that the weight can be taken.
Keep your aquarium away from heat sources such as radiators, loud noises, direct sunlight, drafts and vibrations caused by something like a door being opened. Your aquarium should be in a place where you will be able to enjoy it most but I that plave is too busy then find a quiter place.
Your aquarium should stand on a flat surface, if you are worried your aquarium is not supported well you can add a sheet of cardboard or even polystyrene.
