Spawning Corydoras Aeneus

It is quite easy to spawn Bronze Corydoras. In the wild these catfish breed when the snow has melted and has flowed down in the streams lowering the temperature of the water or just after a cooling rain. In the aquarium spawning can be brought on by replacing 25% of the water with quite cold water and turning off the heater.
You must first get a group of mature corydoras of both sexes. You can ensure there will be both sexes present in your aquarium by having about six catfsih or more. Feeding too much fish food and putting brine shrimp, daphnia or blood worms in the aquarium at least once a week conditions the fish quite fast. Another way to condition the fish faster is to increase the temperature a few degrees.
Every night about 7pm change 25 % of the water with cold water untill your fish spawn and leave clear eggs stook to leaves, filters and even the sides of the aquarium. A preferred spot for eggs to be deposited is by a flow of air bubbles. The main thing you need is patience. Corydoras take a long time to fully mature, often a couple of years.
When your catfish finally lay there eggs you can stop changing the water every night. Albino Corydoras Aeneus eggs hatch in 2-3 days. The wild coloured Corydoras Aeneus eggs hatch in 3-5 days depending on the temperatue. Albino fry aren't as hardy as the fry of the wild coloured corydoras aeneus.
Feed Liquifry and brine shrimp for the first couple of weeks. After a week the fry will be 1cm long an look the spitting image of their parents. A few months later they will be a couple of centimetres long.
