Serves 4

550g (1.25lb) Stewing Steak (Cubed)
3x15ml spoon (3tbsp) Self Raising Flour
(seasoned with Salt and Pepper)
2x15ml spoons (2tbsp) Oil
2 Carrots chopped
1 Large Onion, sliced
1/2 Suede Diced
450ml 3/4 pint Beef Stock
1x15ml spoon (1tbsp) Tomato puree

Scones

175g (6oz)Self raising flour
Pinch Salt
2x15ml spoons (2tbsp) sesame seeds
50g (2oz) margarine
75ml (3 fluid oz) Milk

(1) Heat oven to 180c (350f) Gas mark 4. Have ready a casserole dish

(2) Coat meat in seasoned flour.heat 1x15 ml spoon (1 tbsp) oil, fry vegetables for 5 to 10 mins then place in casserole. Heat remaining oil and fry meat until brown on all sides. Place in casserole with stock and tomato puree. Cover and cook for 1 and a half hours, until meat is tender

(3) Make the scones by placing the flour,salt and sesame seeds in a bowl. Rub in fat add enough milk to make it a stiff dough. Knead lightly and roll out to 1cm (1/2 inch) circle. Cut into eight segments and glaze.

(4) Arrange segments on top of the simmering casserole and cook uncovered for 15 mins at 220c 425f Gas mark 7, until scones are golden brown
