COOL Cymru is about to get even cooler as a new wave of bands ride in on the tidal wave created by the 'Manics', the 'Phonics' and Catatonia (who proved it's possible to make it without having an 'ic' in your name.)
It could be a quiet year from the above mentioned outfits - the Stereophonics are taking a year out to make a sexy new CD.
Cerys Matthews is finding it cold outside with Tom Jones, and the Manic Street Preachers are probably waiting in the hope that someone books them for the next millennium gig.
Kibosh is waiting in the wings and proving with every gig that practice makes perfect.
Look out for them.

Kibosh would like to thank, urmmmm, nobody, but they'll think of someone to grovel to by the time they get one of those meaningless music awards.

Kibosh
Kibosh - A Hebrew word - 'Bloody good rock band' (OED).
Kibosh - encrypted command to all Welsh naval vessels during the days of Owain Glyndwr. De-coded, when war records were released last week, as 'Coracles ahoy come back to Wales, bloody good rockband on at the rugby club'.
Kibosh - 'To put a spanner in the works'.
Kibosh - Codename for Labour party spin doctor. Sadly he mis-transcribed the above definition as 'Work to put a spanner in'.

Cohen
Another good band with Welsh connections (they bought their guitar leads in Newport).
