With days to go before the Easter Cruise Mike Prescott was informed that it would not be possible to use the lock into St. Katharine's, so, with enthusiasm and determination, Mike and Jenny spent a day in London investigating alternatives, so West India Dock it was.

Cruise Captain Mike Prescott - (Jean Andrews) The Easter Cruise to West India Dock was a great success with twelve boats attending. They were Sambur, Margaret Catchpole, Emily, Northern Gipsy, Galatea, Ma Pin Wa, Persuasion, Osprey, Moon Dancer, Galadriel, Bonny Girl and Stella.
The journey up the Thames started well with most of the boats having a fine sail but then the wind veered and increased in strength so the fleet began motoring into the teeth of a yachtsman's gale. The river from Gravesend was the roughest many of us had seen and some were taking 'green ones' over the bows!
The lock in West India Dock was a relaxed affair compared to St. Katharine's and moorings at half the price. We all went in together and there was plenty of help from the staff. We moored close to Canary Wharf within a short walk of the Dockland Light Railway so Central London and Greenwich were only minutes away.
Forty one sat down for the meal at Browns restaurant.
Maybe we shall have to go there again next year.
The Cruise Captain Mike Prescott will be happy to answer any queries, just ask.
