09/04/07 (Mon) Return from Canary Wharf
The Easter Cruise saw a good turnout yet again, with eleven boats present at Canary Wharf.
There were 35 members present for the restaurant meal plus Chris and Sarah's two boys who seemed to enjoy the event as much as we all did.
Half of us set out on Thursday and had a really lazy, sunny trip up the Thames with very little delay at the lock.
Others travelled up on Friday in similar weather but unfortunately arrived at the same time as two visiting Dutch destroyers. There was quite a delay while the warships locked in. This was of great interest to those of us moored inside but frustrating to those holding position outside until it was all over.
The weather was glorious all weekend and groups split up to undertake various activities in London and Greenwich. Some took in a show whilst others visited famous markets or museums.
On the last day the warships started to get ready to lock out at 3.30 a.m. They finally completed the manoeuvre at 7.00 a.m. Just in time for us to catch the tide.
A great weekend.
Boats attending the cruise were: Emily, Moondancer, Galatea, Galadriel, Margaret Catchpole, Ma Pin Wa, Amarula, Genevieve II, Osprey, Patanda, Bonny Girl.
The Cruise Captain Mike Prescott will be happy to answer any queries, just ask.
