The new floating causeway has its own regulations to reduce risks to people and property; please read and obey them.
Never drag your dinghy along or over the edge of the pontoon as this causes expensive damage to the decking; use a trolley and the launching ramps.

It has been drawn to my attention that a mother was seen letting her toddler run about on the pontoon without a lifejacket on. This is an extremely risky strategy if you love your offspring, if they toddle over the edge they could be swept away by the tide in no time.
For the peace of mind of all of us please ensure that all children on the pontoon are carefully supervised and are wearing an appropriate buoyancy aid.

We now have combination padlocks on the pontoon gate and dinghy trolley for the benefit of visiting yachts which do not have a Club key. The combination will be given by ringing the number on the instructions to visiting yachts notice on the end of the pontoon.

I have been in touch with Southern Water to seek official guidance on what we can and cannot use the hoses for during the hosepipe ban and I have good news:
1. Hoses can be used for filling water tanks (domestic use).
2. Hoses can be used with pressure washers to clean hulls.
3. Hoses can be used to wash boats.
However, it is not good to be seen to be wasting water and users of the hoses should not let them run unnecessarily.
So go ahead and fill your tanks and scrub your boat, you are saving energy by saving fuel. But think twice about whether you need to use the hose for washing the topsides because although this is permissible it is almost as easy to use river water and a bucket.

Well done to those involved in the ongoing work on the floating causeway.
We now have water taps by the scrubbling posts and at the hammer head. I am still trying to source a supplier for water tap keys if anyone knows where the single key type (as opposed to the cross shaped keys with four different heads) can be obtained I will be grateful to hear from you.
If you plan to use the pressure washer to scrub off I must advise you to tie it down to the pontoon as I had the unfortunate experience of it vibrating off the edge. Fortunately the tide was out but it was a messy job cleaning all the mud off.
High on the priority list is security gates and fencing for the dinghy park. These will be done as soon as possible.
If you want to volunteer to help contact Ian Campbell our Pontoon Master.

We have all tide access to the water with the new pontoon. Two more piles and the hammerhead will be in place by the end of May to complete the work. A dinghy ramp will be added to the pontoon in the near future to assist with launch and recovery of dinghies.
