Members' Guide

Floating Causeway

The new floating causeway has its own regulations to reduce risks to people and property; please read and obey them.

Never drag your dinghy along or over the edge of the pontoon as this causes expensive damage to the decking; use a trolley and the launching ramps.

Rubbish

When you come ashore, do not put your rubbish in the litter bins on the green. They are emptied on Friday and leaving them full of weekend rubbish encourages rats which are not nice for local residents. There is a large rubbish bin by the front door of the Clubhouse, or take your rubbish home with you.

Dinghy Park

Space in the dinghy park is available to members. There is a small, fixed annual charge. Spaces are allocated by the Mooring Master.

As the dinghy park is open to the public, your dinghy must be chained and padlocked to your allocated space (or it is likely to be 'liberated'). The name of the parent craft and the dinghy space number label should be on your dinghy.

Club Dinghy

Ol-nic which is in space No 14 in the dinghy park is for the general use of Members on a temporary basis. It is locked with the Club key. As with all Club equipment House Bylaw 2B applies.

Scrubbing Posts

These are available to all Members. The lower pad is for fin keel yachts and the upper pad is for bilge keelers. Getting alongside is a bit tricky if the tide is ebbing. If you have a fin keel yacht, set your mooring lines so that your mast is level with the forward post and put a line from around your mast to the post, to keep the yacht upright as she dries out. Booking forms are in the Clubhouse foyer.

Fresh Water

There are fresh water taps on the wall outside the front of the Clubhouse, on the causeway by the dinghy park, on the lower scrubbing post and hopefully on the end of the floating causeway soon. All need a special key available to purchase from Richard Lucas.

Flushing tank

There is, in the car park at the rear of the Clubhouse, a tank for testing and flushing outboard motors. Although it would be useful to have a similar facility at the head of the causeway, it was decided that it would probably be a liability as it would be misused by the general public who would see it as a handy place for the disposal of unwanted children etc.

Club Keys

The Club key fits the front door lock of the Clubhouse, the gate of the car park, the dinghy trolley, the lock on the Club dinghy and the sewing machine in the Clubhouse.

House Bylaws 1A, 1B and 1C apply.

Keys are available from the Hon. Secretary.

Clubhouse

The Club key fits the front door lock of the Clubhouse. The bar is open on Wednesday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes as long as there is a volunteer barperson - this could be you.

The Clubhouse is available for Members' private functions, for bookings, contact the Social Secretary.

House Bylaw 1D applies.

Hot Showers

If you want to use the showers in the Clubhouse you will have to put the hot water on at least an hour beforehand. There is a button in the hallway that switches the water heater on for a set period of time.

Car Park

The car park at the back of the Clubhouse is available for Members use whilst they are visiting the Club facilities or on their yacht. Please lock the gate after passing through. Space is limited so please park carefully and do not block other Members' exit.

House Bylaws 3B and 3C apply.

Storage

You may leave items in the shed at the back of the Clubhouse for limited periods. Please make sure all items have your name on them. The shed key is hanging in the foyer.

Sewing machine

There is a heavy duty sewing machine in the corner of the Clubroom. It does not do zig-zag stitching but is useful for sail repairs and stitching other 'canvas' items.

If you have never used a machine of this type, ask for advice before you start. Do not allow children to use it and do not leave the bobbins empty.

Club Regalia

We have a good selection of items with the Club logo on. Pick up an order form in the Clubhouse or contact the Rear Commodore or Hon. Secretary.
