This is the only large corporation left on Temple, manufacturing industry favorites such as RV22 better known as Proten Plus a detergent used for washing electronic components, RV23, XST and GS7 which is used for detoxing and cleaning anti gravity suits.
Being the major employer on Temple Chambers became the target of interest of a local crime syndicate the Dusters. Its already large and adequate security force had be bolstered by an external security force. For this job Chambers choose 'Kanes Killers'.
Before the creation of I.C.C the earth had united under the banner of Nations of Earth (NoE), but corporations were stepping up the exploration of space, the NoE was unable to continue due the ever increasing costs. The corporates on the other hand were beginning to colonize and become less worried about the regulations and laws effecting them on Earth. They saw the NoE as a burden and red tape. So they began to break away from the NoE's control.
In response the NoE imposed embargo on the colonies until the corporates were willing to tow the line but instead the colonies began terrorist actions on earth which eventually resulted in war.
The war was brief but costly, though only a few nuclear and bio weapons had been used the corporations were unwilling to continue as the war was proving costly, new research had been put on hold while the war waged and they had had to minimize production to finance their war efforts. They saw war now as a costly exercise which they no longer wished to participate in. With this the terrorists were either hunted down, shopped to the enemy or disappeared into oblivion.
And so they began to talk with the NoE.
It was agreed to create a self regulating body which would be financed by a coalition of NoE governments and Corporations. This new body called the Interstellar Commerce Commission (I.C.C) would regulate the activities of its members. The I.C.C's first motion was to create a military arm, a sort of police force called the Colonial Marine Corp. (C.M.C). An initial force was created from new recruits and fresh investment from the coalition. But also extra forces were supplied by individual nations like the U.S.C.M.C, U.K.C.M.C, E.U.C.M.C, E.C.C.M.C and the S.A.C.M.C. The extra forces could be called upon by the C.M.C, given separate orders or if larger forces required operate together under a chosen I.C.C commander.
The I.C.C's regulators are called upon more by the corporates wishing the C.M.C to do their work for them. As now they cannot be openly seen doing hostile takeovers or bearing grudges with over members. Hostile takeovers by corporates outside the I.C.C coalition on I.C.C members has resulted in swift retribution by the C.M.C to such an extent that hostile takeovers are now very rare or are done cloak and dagger style. Either way this means of acquiring has almost become extinct.
Controlled by Mr Gibson Snr, This is a parent company for many well known subsidiary companies including the hotel chain Royale, Quest Medical Research, GibARM, Cannis, and MediaNET.
Mr Gibson as deservedly hard business reputation but it was believed he had pushed some of the larger corporations to far with his hostile acquisition of Quest Medical Research in 2177. But the situation was later diffused when it was exposed to be an internal power struggle by a rogue security agent trying to usurp the company from the Gibson family.
Iomega has offices in all major space ports acting as agents and fronts for all its subsidiaries.
Properly one of the most respected mercenary bands, they can afford to be choosey about their jobs and prospective clients. A relatively small band with 12 key members and between 20 to 40 soldiers. Their main man Colonel Killer Kane bought himself out of the marines for a very high price but this was believed to have financial backing from a security company.
Can be contacted by Warriors of Fortune BBS, various street agents or through his clients recommendations.
Small manufacturing company supplying the defense industry. Unique in that its owner and employees are fanatical towards the companies success. Manufactures all weather and atmospheric protective clothing and habitats. The company is solely owned by Graham Hoskyns a known religious fanatic but also very much liked socially and within the community.
A highly efficient organization who seem to take on anyone and everyone. The size of the company is unknown but operatives met are usually working in cells of between 4-6 bodies. The cost to hire these dudes is very high and normally starts at seven figure sums.
Subject to a lot of attention from the medical and defense industries. A very young company with currently no commercial products. It is possible this company received financial backing from Weyland-Yutanti or Micor initially but others have also been identified. It was founded by Dr David Blenham (doctorate in Xenobiology) who was later joined by Gianluca Villas who bought the much needed financial backing.
In a move described by the press 'As brave in light of the financial backers' Iomega Corporation made a successful hostile takeover of Quest in 2177, the companies research facilities were bought into line with Iomega and the HQ moved to Iomega Research facilities in Florida. Fortunately Dr Blenham survived but Villas was killed in the takeover. Blenham continues his work now for Quest but as a subsidiary of Iomega.
