Oxford looked over the map, felt pen marked areas of importance and the location of his men. His helicopters had been kept busy ferrying injured back to base and too hospitals in Phoenix. Two false alarms were the grand total for the operation so far, resulting in the unprofessional firing on themselves.

‘Bond, I’ve just received a communiqué from here.’ He said pointing at the map, ‘They have found bodies that sound similar to what you have been looking for. Get a team up there and check it out.’

Bond checked the map, the position was north-east of San Carlos. ‘Knight take over from Carter on the radio.’ He said, pulling his mobile phone from an inside pocket. He recalled Holly’s number. ‘Holly where are you?’

‘Just across the road, we’ve just finished patching up the last of the casualties and I was cleaning up.’ She sounded refreshing, although Bond knew she had been working all night.

‘Tell Mac to get over here and man the comms with Knight and get your kit, we’re flying out to another murder scene in five minutes.’ It was harsh he knew, their day was getting longer but he hoped it would soon be all over.

‘Ok.’ She said in a drawn out sigh of resignation.

‘Carter, go find Lee and Hammond and make sure everyone has a FBI jacket. Then meet me at the helicopter in five minutes.’ The lack of sleep seemed to make Bond more assertive or was it curt.

Holly looked radiant as the moonlight caressed her face, small pools of light reflected off her dice blue eyes. In the middle of July, the nights were still cold and Bond resisted the temptation to hold Holly close to him and feel the warmth of her body.

‘Boss, Boss, were ready to go.’ Carter’s voice shouting above the sound of the rotor blades, snapping him back to reality.

As soon as he was on, the helicopter effortlessly lifted them into the night.
