Album reviews! On this page I will be writing my opinions on various albums that I buy. Please bear in mind that I'm quite a hard guy to please, so comments may be a bit unfair at times!

Band/Artist: Third Day
Album: Offerings
Type: Worship

I only have this album a couple of days and I quite like it. My favourite tracks are probably These Thousand Hills which is very much like an old fashioned hymn, the psalm put to music in Your Love O Lord, and King of Glory. Perhaps a strange choice for a "worship" CD but still good all the same is their cover of Bob Dylan's Saved.

Overall, it's a very good album and well worth the money.  I can see me playing this CD in my car for some time to come.  If you haven't heard of Third Day, it's about time you checked them out.  See thwir web site (which is excellent btw) for more information.

Band/Artist: Vineyard (live from London)
Album: Hungry
Type: Worship

I bought this album solely for the title track Hungry.  It's such a great song.  The CD in whole is very good which is a bonus!  Some of the other tracks I like are Your name is holy, There's no-one like our God and my favourite You are a holy God (which I plan to add to the worship section sometime soon).

I quite like the albums that Vineyard produce.  In fact, I'm currently waiting for the new album I surrender to arrive at my doorstep.  What makes a worship album great, in my opinion, is if it contains songs that I can learn and teach others in church.  A lot of worship albums today have songs that only the band can "perform" - most congregations can't sing along, or worship with those types of songs.

Band/Artist: Jars of Clay
Album: Much Afraid
Type: Pop

I instantly liked Jars of Clay when I first heard them on WOW CD that I bought a number of years agao.  I find their vocals quite smooth and gentle, their music very acoustic (which attracted me) and their lyrics very smart and well thought out.  My favourite tracks on this CD are Fade to Grey, Tea and Sympathy, Crazy Times, Five Candles, Much Afraid and Hymn.  I actually tried working the chords out to Hymn at one stage, but it proved quite difficult.
