AshKaDan

AshKaDan; click for full portraitThe epic tale of raven-haired and blue-eyed AshkaDan, which spans over four hundred years of drama, pain and hardship, all began in the other-wordly city of New Orleans, where a nobleman took fancy to an Indian tribeswoman. Understandably, such a union wasn't at all acceptable within the local aristocratic boundaries, and as a result, Ashka's mother received no support from her father, and brought up the child as best she could. Socially outcast even before birth, the girl wasn't properly initiated into the community of her city until she married. Thus began a reasonably ordinary life, and Ashka had three children, although tragically the second of these died at birth. It was kneeling at this child's grave that Ashka was attacked by a rogue vampire, a misfortune which would change her life forever.

Ashka didn't take to vampirism at all well, utterly despising it from the offset; plucked as she was from a happy mortal life, leaving behind family and friends, and then thrown roughly into a new world, one of darkness, and hatred, and death. Her new 'family' were the Setite and Tzimisce (her attacker having being a half-blood) vampiric clans, but such was her resentment for them, that Ashka claimed henceforth to be one of the 'clan-less' Caitiffs. Such was her sadness, that she shunned her mortal name completely, and called herself AshkaDan, in remberance of the beloved mortal children she left behind: Ashleigh, Kathryn, and Daniel. Finally, Ashka took the rebellious path of the Anarch, obeying no rules but those which she makes for herself.

Like many unfortunate vampires before her, she found her way to the Theatre Des Vampires, where she was welcomed and cared for, by those patrons who took pity on her. Eventually, Ashka was admitted into the Dunning clan of Lord Wolfe. A meeting with Alessandro Grudgebringer took place two years ago, and since their recent re-acquintance, AshkaDan has been one of the Grecian Grove's most regular patrons, respected and liked by all. She has also apparently interested the enigmatic Nomad, who sided with her in the defeat of the Brujah vampiress, Addictive.

AshkaDan has endured hardships and hurt which even an immortal would have been troubled to survive, but has always proved strong and defiant in the face of such trials. She has a vast array of friends, and has become a mother figure to three vampiric children: Alouron, Zingara and Alexander Night. AshKa is well-liked by most and respected by all, for she is a competent warrioress, and even Alessandro Grudgebringer has been overheard to appraise her handling of beer.

AshKa has recently followed Devilin Steel and Mistral Edain to the Castle of Shadows in Cypria.
