Devilin Steel

Devilin Steel; click for full portraitSlowly he opened his eyes as the last of the sun's rays dissipated into twilight. He slowly slipped his legs over the edge of the bed and sat up pushing the long hair from his face. Looking around the dark chamber, his eyes shimmering slightly as they looked about. Standing, he quietly reached to the back of the chair, took the weapons belt and placed it about his waist. Adjusting the twin scimitars so they sat easily in their sheaths. He made his way to the table by the hearth, sitting in the chair and pouring himself a glass of bloodwyne. He lifted to his lips and sipped lightly - it would hold off the hunger for a little while, but only until it was time to hunt... to feed. Settling in the chair he watches the fire in the hearth. As the fire crackled, his thoughts drift back over the years, to his youth. His mother was a peasant, but as beautiful as any queen, which is what captured his father's attention. In his visits to the surface world the powerful demon, Steel, a Baylor from the Abyss, had seen her and taken human form to meet her and take her as his own.

Although she could have had everlasting life, she would not accept what he was and ran away, but not before bearing a son, who was named Devilin.

As he grew they moved from place to place. His mother never told him of his demon blood, for fear of being found. His mother, Jezel, died in a plague and he took to the high seas, grief-stricken, and still unknowing of what he was, though while in his twenties, his powers of demonic magic would surface. But it was the sword that became his passion as he fell in with pirates and eventually rose through the buccaneer ranks and became captain of his own ship, the Flame. For over thirty years he sailed amoung their ranks, but he was ever an outcast among the pirates. For he had not aged a day since his twentieth birthday. And so he wandered the world for four hundred years, learning of who and what he was. That was until the night he chanced upon the Theatre des Vampires, where he found some acceptence among the embraced ones that frequented its halls.

This place was where he had met AshKa. She was beautiful and deadly. A paradox not unlike himself. Though she was deadly, and some would call evil, she held a warm spot for him in her no longer beating heart. As he did for her and gladly accepted her Dark Kiss and became one of the Kindred. Though obvious to all who had eyes, he loved her without question, but he would never tell her. For everything which he had loved had died or left, and he wished not that again.

Now this place was his home and here he would remain as long as it is her wish or until the blade takes him. Here he remains with allies and comrades: Alessandro Grudgebringer, the Lady Firehair, LiaAna, Countess Bathory and many others he would call friend.

He rose from his chair, walked into the shadows and disappeared. Paris was a very large city, after all, and the hunting would be good this night.
