The Study

rue to AshKa's words, the Study was a snug, discrete little chamber tucked away around three doors down on the left of the main corridor's eastern wing. The room itself was cosy enough, with its own hearth, in which embers smouldered. In the faint, soothing glow of depleted candles, a pair of armchairs could be made out, flanking a small table, on which lay an open volume. Its cover's style and design was similar to many of those on the bookshelves, which consisted the castle's library and occuiped most of the far wall. Of the books themselves, most appeared to be newly-bound, but a few were tatty, victims of wear and tear, and one or two looked as if they'd fall apart at the slightest of touches.

Obedient to the recent trend of appearing suddenly and silently, there came a man's voice. "Why, hello there.."
In the doorway stood the nobly-featured man from the Great Hall, smiling softly, and with a kindly twinkle in his eyes.
"I'm Devilin. I see you've found my little hideaway. Well, not so much a hideaway these days - Ashy and Mist use the room far more than I do. But I used to spend hours locked away in here, learning the law, and the lore, of this wonderous World."

Still smiling, Devilin stepped over to the table, picked up the book, and closed it. He ran a finger lightly over the cover page, and then held it out for inspection. "The Book of Days. An interesting read, indeed.."
