The International Dyslexia Test (IDT)

Whilst there has been some research into dyslexia in different languages, few look at many different languages. The IDT attempts to look at it in different languages, and will compare and contrast the effects of orthography and phonology across different languages. The different languages sets being investigated include;

  • Transparent (Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Welsh)
  • Non-transparent (English)
  • Morphophonemic (Chinese)
  • Transparent, agglutinal (Hungarian)
  • Mixed (Japanese)
  • Bilingual (Philippines, London, Leicester)

The data and conclusion of this research will be presented at the international conference in York UK in April 2001.
