Parkway Wildflower Fields
During the years 1994 -1998 the fields opposite Stockbridge Lane were known as Parkway Wildflower Fields because a Merseyside conservation charity had sowed them with native Cornflowers, Oxeye Daises, Field Poppies and Corn Marigolds.

The fields looked stunning during the summer and having abundant wildlife, local residents and schoolchildren used the field for picnics and wildlife studies. Media attention grew after local residents heard that plans to build houses on the field had been given the go ahead and they started to try to save their open space.

Some of the historical information used for this website comes from the original community video I made called "A Village Green for Parkway" which helped highlight the plight of the local residents trying to conserve the fields as an open space.

Granada TV Local News aired a number of reports showing some of the video and interviews with residents including Mrs Scott, but, after two years Parkway fields eventually became a housing estate.
