THE PRINCIPLE AIMS OF WHISC

  • To support and develop a Women's Community Health Network in the target areas. i.e. Granby/Toxteth - chosen because of the large number of women from ethnic minorities and Speke, chosen because of it's isolated location from the rest of Liverpool. Both communities are disadvantaged in access to health care and health education. We aim also to provide a city-wide service at the drop-in centre, and hope to extend our community work across a wider area, consulting and involving women in communities throughout Liverpool.
  • To offer training, information and support on women's health issues to the target groups and to other women in line with WHISC's equal opportunities policy.
  • To deliver effective and efficient services, and to review and evaluate these services and the role of staff, volunteers and the management committee.
  • To establish links with statutory health services to ensure the views of women are fed into these services to enable positive change and communication to take place.
