Will's Programs
Here's where i'm going to put all the programs i write. All i've written this year is a 'hello world'
windows proggie in Dev-C++ using DJGPP which wasn't too difficult but as i haven't learnt anything much as yet about
compiler switches that's about as far as i was likely to get. Anyway, early in 2001 i was using RHIDE/DJGPP/Allegro
(ANSI C only) to write programs and the one survivor from that time i still have it's the first that's here.
All Purpose Pattern Generator
This program has had many names (for example it's last name was 'splurges' but i later found out
that splurges is used to mean many trips into town buying lots of stuff. Shop-a-holics go on splurges.
So i changed it to All purpose pattern generator or APPG for short which i thought was slightly
humouress. Anyway here's what to do: It's not difficult. I'll explain step by step;
BTW - this assumes you've got either some version of winzip, or winrar or powerarchiver or if you're running
linux or some other OS whatever prog you lot use. If you haven't you can get it easily. Search for one of them
in Google for example.
1. Click on the link below. You should get a box up allowing you to choose where to save it. Save it in my documents
or somewhere where you won't forget.
2. Close your browser and go to whereever you saved it (my documents maybe).
4. RIGHT click on the appg.zip file and go down to extract to...
5. A box should open. Click on new folder. Call it appg or whatever.
6. Then just click OK and all the files should appear in appg.
7. You should have three files in the appg folder: alleg40.dll.exe appg.exe and patprogNL.c
patprogNL.c is a text file. It's the code that made the program. Have a look at it in word processing
program if you want. Note: Notepad won't open it - it's too big!
8. To run the program just click on appg.exe (it has a picture of a screen as an icon). You must have alleg40.dll.exe
in the same folder.
Hope that's helps. Hope you enjoy it. If you get stuck send me an e-mail (there a mail button on the homepage).
Oh yeah! Here's the file: appg.zip
This site is written and maintained by William Labbett. All the files (pictures and programs) on
this site took me ages to do and belong to me. You may download anything, store it on your
hardrive and do what you will with it but you may not use anything for commercial purposes.
Doing so would not only upset me but be a flagrant transgression of common human decency. Thx.
