We had every intention of hiring bicycles today and cycling to a nearby town (Lican Ray), but by the time we had breakfast and packed our bags it was midday and there wasn't enough time. So we accompanied Arnold to the bus station and bought our exceptionally cheap (US$7 ~ GB£5) tickets for the 12 hour overnight bus journey to Santiago. After purchasing our tickets we strolled along the lake side, ate lunch at the end of a small jetty and noised around town. At around 5pm we headed back to the hostel and met the French couple: Arnold and Mimi, with whom we were catching the same bus to Santiago.
The four of us sat in the kitchen chatting about our travels and their experiences in Patagonia (the national park with a massive glacier looked amazing and I was envious that we'd not gone), drinking tea and snacking on bread, cheese and pate until the time to catch the 'Condor' bus arrived. At around 3am we discovered a possible reason for the incredible price of the tickets, the 'Condor' had its wings clipped and broke down en route in the middle of nowhere. The sleepy passengers (ourselves included) were shepherded off the bus and, when room allowed, onto other passing buses that had stopped, we sat down and slept fitfully until our arrival in Santiago at 7am.
