Our first full day in Peru starts with us moving out of the single room to a double room...

A taxi from the main square takes us up the hill to the Cristo Blanco - a huge white statue of Christ overlooking Cusco, next to the ruins at Sacsayhuaman...

Today is a day apart, we decide to have some time out and spend the day pursuing our own interests...
Day 73: Monday, 5th June 2000
Everyone meets at the SAS office on the Plaza de Armas at 6.30am for breakfast, to leave luggage that is not required and to meet the other members of the group...
Day 74: Tuesday, 6th June 2000
5.30am and the porters wake us with a hot cup of mate de cocoa and tea, we dress in a hurry, and pack our bags so that the porters can dismantle the sleeping tents whilst we eat breakfast...
Day 75: Wednesday, 7th June 2000
Its another early start, circa 5.30am to eat breakfast in the open air, the weather is cold damp and overcast...

After another early start, refreshed with Mate de Cocoa, we have breakfast and find that Kismet is also ill with a stomach complaint ...

In the morning we pack quickly and join up with Dederick and Annaleise, we go to the office to discuss the currency issue...

Another very early start: 4.30am, which after a week of very early starts we could do without...

Today is a day of rest after all the travelling over the last 24 hours, so we have as much of a lie in as the roosters well allow...

A reasonable start - 7am, we're at the Aero Paracas office for 8.30am and get picked up in a minivan with 10 other tourists...
