Day 98: Friday, 30th June 2000 Day 99: Saturday, 1st July 2000 After another monster breakfast we headed in the opposite direction to yesterday towards the Verdado district... Day 100: Sunday, 2nd July 2000 We said goodbye to Cary, Nilo and Havana this morning as we took the bus 3 hours west to Vinales in the Pina del Rio district... Day 101: Monday, 3rd July 2000 Vinales is surrounded by limestone hills eroded by underground rivers creating spectacular sheer cliffs rising out of the valleys... Day 102: Tuesday, 4th July 2000 Awoke early in the morning to the sounds of cockerels and tractors passing by... Day 103: Wednesday, 5th July 2000 By the time Claire looked out of the window she was surprised to see our Habana bound taxi was a classic 1950s American Studebaker car... Day 104: Thursday, 6th July 2000 Departing Habana just after 8am we arrived in Trinidad at 1.30pm where our hosts: Mariella and Sergio (M&S) were waiting for us at the bus station... Day 105: Friday, 7th July 2000 Paul and Omara told us about a great waterfall in the hills which we could walk to from Trinidad last night... Day 106: Saturday, 8th July 2000 Hiring two mountain bikes form our host: Sergio, we set off to cycle the 15km journey to Playa Ancon... Day 107: Sunday, 9th July 2000 When Paul opened the boot of his car this morning Sergio's three prize crabs from last night had all died horrible smelly deaths... Day 108: Monday, 10th July 2000 Having had a nice long lie-in we dragged ourselves out of bed and walked to the bus station in Trinidad... Day 109: Tuesday, 11th July 2000 Today was our last full day in Trinidad, as we will probably not see the Carribean Sea again for many years we spent the whole day at the same beach as yesterday... Day 110: Wednesday, 12th July 2000 In the morning we packed our bags and went for a final wander around the streets of Trinidad to get of our host's way... Day 111: Thursday, 13th July 2000 Leaving Cary and Nilo's casa in the late morning we caught a taxi to the airport, as a tourist, leaving Cuba is a lot easier than entering it... |
