Today is our four month anniversary on the road...
Woke up about 2 feet from each other in our king-sized bed and had an 'All American' (hash browns, patties, eggs, etc) breakfast at the hotel that was to last us all the day on the road and then set off across more desert towards Los Angeles. Whilst travelling along the interstate we saw signs to a ghost town and interested we pulled over to explore further. We were expecting a crumbling old wild west town, but unfortunately the tourist board had got there first and it is another sanitised attraction complete with tarmac road and people dressed in old style costume - ah well hopefully we'll se a real ghost town at some point on our trip.
For the next few hours we headed closer to LA on the old route 66, passing letter boxes standing lonely on the side with nothing else in sight - there's not much between the small towns with quirky museums such as the 'Roy Rodgers museum' and 'Museum of Erotica'. In the early evening we arrived at our campsite at the foot of the mountains surrounding LA, as it turned to dusk we walked around a nearby lake and then got lost in the darkness on the way back. When we finally got back to the campsite we lit a fire and relaxed watching the flames dance.
