Didn't drive far today, just a little further up the coast to the 'oldest redwood forest' - Jeddiah Smith State Park, near Crescent City - where Will wanted to visit. On the way Will called his parents in the UK and had a good long chat with them, if all goes accroding to plan we should be able to meet them in Vancouver, Canada in about a week's time - we're both looking forward to it immensely. By lunchtime we had reached our destination, set up camp and headed out for a walk amongst the tree groves and bears. We walked through the "Stout Grove" - a beautiful collection of old growth redwoods standing several hundred feet tall, towering over you as you gawp open mouthed at their majesty. Claire may have got carryed away with her tree photos! We walked for miles without seeing a soul - it would appear that most Americans prefer to sight see from their cars or only venture out to the most popular spots - luckily we didn't see any bears!
Not wanting to experience another cold evening like last night we took a drive into Crescent City for a KFC value meal, do our laundry (why are Laundretes soooo grim?) and escaped reality for a couple of hours in the local multiplex watching "The Perfect Storm", which we were glad wasn't released before we took the cargo ship. It was good to see some normal life after the relative isolation of camping in the state parks.
