Woke to the sound of pinecones 'pinging' off the ground around our tent - a squirrel in the tree above was knocking them down for his winter collection. We rustled out of bed - we have the space blanket beneath us, it keeps us warmer but is also like tin foil, and we're on the road again by late morning. Within a couple of hours we'd crossed the border into Pennsylvania passing through industrial Pittsburg to a small town on its periphery. Here we stopped for a break getting some photos developed and checking email - all is good for Paul and Johnna's tomorrow, before moving further south to visit another Frank Lloyd Wright house - Fallingwater - equally as impressive as the other FLW places we have visited - this time we avoided the temptations of the gift shop as we're both very attracted to products based on his designs. We're pleased that we both seem to like similar things - our tastes aren't poles apart, we both like the simple, clean designs FLW uses and the natural materials. By early evening we stopped at an empty campsite on the edge of a pretty lake in Maryland. Unfortunately dinner became a battle between ourselves and a nest of spiders living under the picnic table - the spiders eventually won and we beat an early retreat to the tent. The novely of camping is definitely wearing off!
