WISTA _ UK NEWSLETTER

Voting

It is important to remember that the deadline for International Membership is January 1998. Therefore, ladies, UK needs the VOTING PAPERS. Last September 3 countries were not allowed to vote since their remittance were not received, UK has the maximum voting papers allowed, according to the number of registered members. Please remember that the more members the UK have in the International Association the greater majority we will have when voting for decisions to be passed.
Let's continue our efforts and have our voice in the International Committee, your membership is vital!
1998 will be decisive, it is election year for a new President and Officers, the UK vote is important.
By becoming an international member you will give the UK a large and stronger voice within the organisation.

1998 International Membership Fees are being collected NOW!!!

Conferences

The 1998 Conference will be in New York, USA, enclosed with this Newsletter is their preliminary program.
At the Finland Conference we had a chance to hear the presentation made by the WISTA-USA about the next Conference in New York and we can advance to you that it is going to be absolutely fantastic! We anticipate a massive attendance from all other countries, and from the USA itself, so girls, this is America, book well in advance, otherwise there will be no places left for late comers!. This is our first opportunity to go to a transatlantic WISTA conference to learn, meet new members, make new contacts and potential business partners, and why not have some fun .... see you there!

The 1999 Conference will be our Silver Anniversary in LONDON, where all started back in 1974.
UK members, let's show the girls we are a good strong association, let's work together and put forward ideas for venues, speeches, gifts, raffles, competitions, etc.

Wista International Maritime Calendar

Once again we remind you the intention and the need to create an Annual Calendar of Maritime Events. If you have or know of any event, dinner, gala dinner, symposium, workshops, exhibitions or conferences, please inform our colleague Maria Ester Bobadilla of Patton, Moreno & Asvat in London, so she can compile the UK event list and forward it to the person in charge of this project, (her address is listed below).
