April 12, 2003 the John Radcliff Easter
Childrens Charity
run.
Not a bad turnout, 40 bikes in all.
The weather was great and the amount of presents fantastic.
It was worth while just to see the awed expressions
on the childrens' faces.
Ready
for the off?
Complete
with easter chicks - one of which ended up as fried
chicken on the exhaust pipe. Hope you managed to get that
cleaned off.
And
they're off.............
You
have no idea how hard it is to take "over the shoulder
shots". I snapped about 30 pics of my helmet, the
sky, my saddle, my fingers and some I just can't identify.
but
these came out OK, I think.
Arrival
in Headington
Who
is this stranger? Are our memories so short? Nice to
see the old chapter president make the effort.
How
many bikers can you get in a lift?
..................?
Caption contest.
And
then we invaded the wards.
My
mummy told me not to take sweets from strange men!
Then
the staff brough the children outside to see the bikes.
This little girl was wheelchair bound
but................
.....
such a small detail wasn't going to stop her having
a ride round the car park.
Gopher
showing off - FINEMASTER!!
The
kids loved it. The staff were nervous and security had
given up.
Wait a mo, I recognise that bike!
This
was one of those lump in the thoat moments when they
wheeled the bed of this little boy in the parking lot
because he really wanted to see the bikes. We did offer
to hook it to the back of one. Nursing staff can be
so stuffy sometimes.
After
that, where else but the pub.
This is Big Nij trying to work out our
location in relation to the galactic center (and failing).
The
bar staff were taken by surprise (which is always nice)
and what promised to be a quiet afternoon turned out
much more busy.
All in all a good run and a lot of fun.
