On 4th July 2001, at an award ceremony held in the Old
Market Hall in Hove, the Sussex Heritage Trust announced the winners
of each of their six categories. As reported in the Mid Sussex Times
on 12th July, First place in the Landscape
Award went to the Quiet Garden at Worth Abbey. The judges said: "the
remarkable Father (Patrick) Fludder has, mainly with his own hands
and occasionally with other helpers, completed a mammoth task of clearing,
digging out and restoring this lovely old rocky dell."
