1893 - wooden bridge and grand path to 'the mansion'. Note the 'cave' under the waterfall to the right.

1935 painting by Adrian Stokes. Two years after the monks bought the estate from Lord Cowdray, the planting is well arranged. Lord Cowdray had replaced the wooden bridge with a stone one.

2000. A fully grown Cypress tree obscures the equivalent view above. This is taken from the left of the bridge seen in the other pictures. The Abbey Church can be seen to the top right.
