    Direct cable connection running under Windows'98 can be a bit of a strange thing to get running properly. There are a lot of bits to remember, such as making sure the port types on both machines are configured as the same type in their respective BIOS's. i.e. both ECP or both EPP, making sure that you always start the host connection first, have you got 'dial-up networking installed?, is UNC (universal naming convention) enabled?...etc etc etc
