Auski

This is a ski shop in the city. It has wooden floors (don't buy at a carpeted shop, you can't really feel the skates), a friendly staff and a good range. As they fit ski boots, they should be able to help with fitting problems, and replacing insoles if necessary. They provide good quality skating lessons on a saturday morning. The lessons are free with weekend skate hire, or with skate purchase and $10 to others. Just give them a call during the week (9670 1412) and meet down near the heliport (opposite the casino site - plenty of parking under the railway). If you need to hire, they have the cheapest rates I have seen so far: $3/hour or $15 for the weekend (hire on Friday and return before noon on Monday). They are not open on a Sunday.

I don't know this shop very well but they seem to cater more for the aggressive street skater. An example of the rental rate: $20 overnight, Sunday afternoon until Monday afternoon. They are open 2pm-4pm Sundays. They also organise one of the Wednesday night skates, leaving from outside their shop at 6pm. They offer private lessons for $30/60-90 minutes plus $7 for skate hire, with $5 for each additional participant.
